Concentration in Sports Journalism

MSU sports journalism embodies our exciting and globally growing field in print, broadcast (radio and television), social media, multimedia, mobile, immersive, public/media relations and sports information. Our students and alumni work in every facet of the field as play-by-play announcers, on-air anchors, beat writers and columnists, investigative reporters and top editors and executives.

With this focus area, you'll be prepared for the real world. Our sequence of well-rounded classes provides professional development, with up-to-date skills, strong ethics and a deep understanding of the business. You will also get the opportunity to experience the world of sports journalism through a signature Sports Journalism Study Abroad and learn to create powerful connections to empower your career.

We use our deep global Spartan networks to bring working professionals into our classrooms and provide key opportunities with alumni. We host the Spartan Sports Journalism Classic, bringing alumni and students together for a day of networking, learning, and fun. Spartan sports journalists are where the action is, in the press boxes at Comerica Park, Spartan Stadium, the Olympics and beyond.
