Communication at ComArtSci Ranks in Top Five Programs in the World; Six MSU Programs Rank in Top 25 Internationally
The Communication program at MSU's College of Communication Arts and Sciences ranks in the top five in the world, coming in fourth in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2020.
ComArtSci's program is one of six academic programs at MSU that ranks in the top 25 in the world, according to a widely used international ranking of universities.
"MSU is home to the first college of communication in the country, perhaps the world, and we are honored to be ranked among the world's best," said Dean Prabu David. "This ranking offers external validation of the brilliant work of our faculty, staff and students, and recognizes our standing in research and international collaborations."
More than 1,800 universities across 90 countries are ranked annually based on indicators that include measures of research quality, extent of international collaboration, research with top quality faculty and the highest academic honors.
“I am pleased Michigan State’s excellence and competitiveness once again are validated with a high rank among our research university peers,” said MSU President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D. “The criteria considered in this ranking demonstrate the breadth and depth of our faculty members’ expertise, as well as the ubiquity of their research around the world.”
MSU Programs appearing in the top 25 in the world include:
- Education: No. 2
- Communication: No. 4
- Environmental Science and Engineering: No. 6
- Agricultural Sciences: No. 11
- Management: No. 21
- Business Administration: No. 22
The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2020, released in July, is compiled by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, an independent organization focused on higher education research.
