Expect to see budding game designers from across the country vying for the opportunity to study at Michigan State University. While MSU might be well known for its academic offerings in Education and Agriculture, as well as its Big Ten sports programs, it’s making quite the name for itself in the gaming industry. Princeton Review just announced their rankings for the top game design programs of 2018 worldwide, and we made the top ten — twice.
“We are very honored to once again be placed in the top ten of game design programs,” said Brian Winn, an associate professor in the Department of Media and Information. “This increase parallels the growth and investments we have made in the game program, including growing our number of outstanding faculty, investing in new facilities and expanding our curriculum. The rankings help bring visibility to the wonderful things we do here and hopefully attract students to the program that otherwise would not be aware of us.”
The Princeton Review’s ranking process was quite extensive. In 2017, they surveyed 150 institutions around the world that offered game design programs and courses. Based on responses, data was collected about everything from the faculty and lab facilities within the school to graduates’ starting salaries and career achievements.
