Media Sandbox Street Teams
Street Teams are student-run, creative collaborations within the College of Communication Arts & Sciences. These interdisciplinary groups of students partner with local nonprofit organizations and assist them with media projects. Students have real-world learning opportunities, while they give back to their community.
When I got the email I literally did a dance outside my office...it was just a blessing because we need all this work done! - Rhona Bayless, Center of Wellness for Urban Women
Our street teams have mentored underserved youth, collaborated to get more than 93 pounds of food donated to a local food bank, distributed more than 500 cases of water during the Flint Water Crisis and rebranded Pictures of Hope, a project that inspires homeless youth to express themselves through photography.
Street Teams have also traveled across the nation. They've raised their own funds and drove thousands of miles to help out nonprofits in cities like Indianapolis, Nashville and Little Rock. They've designed and crafted new communication platforms, including websites, logos, videos and more.
