Bio

Zheran Liu is a doctoral student in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations. Her research focuses on AI’s use in fashion marketing, with interests in luxury consumption, AI influencers, and chatbot advertising.

Zheran also serves as the Lab Manager of the Media and Advertising Psychology Lab (MAP Lab), where she uses eye-tracking experiments to examine consumer behavior and visual attention. Through experimental research methods, she investigates how consumers interact with marketing content and emerging AI technologies.

Before joining Michigan State University, Zheran worked as a civil servant in China, serving in government roles for two years. She also gained professional experience in both the television broadcasting and public relations industries, having worked for a TV station and a PR company.

Zheran earned her M.A. from the University of Southampton and her B.A. from the University of Sussex. Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, she has been actively involved in animal welfare for more than a decade as a member of a stray cats and dogs rescue organization.
