Sue is a third-year doctoral student. She received her B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at UPenn, with a concentration in Marketing. She worked as a data analyst at a marketing research company (NAXION) for four years before deciding to pursue her passion for academic research.
Sue's current main research interest is in artificial social influence, or how we can best leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to build persuasive agents in immersive virtual reality (VR) environments. Her work so far has been in two areas: 1) harnessing AI to generate effective health campaign messages and extend theories within persuasion and health campaigns research; and 2) using VR platform to examine neurocognitive mechanisms of message processing. In general, Sue is also interested in using and developing machine learning, computational, and statistical methods to examine communication phenomena.
Sue was an attendee at the 2023 MIND summer school for computational neuroscience (topic: interacting minds) and one of the 2023 MSU Cloud Computing Fellows.
Sue's teaching experience includes Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Use Case for Communication Research, Methods of Communication Inquiry, Introduction to Organizational Communicaton, Human Communication, and Business Communication.
