Bio

Ariana (Abaries) Farhad, MS, CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT is the MA Graduate Program Director for the Department of Communicative Sciences & Disorders. She is a certified speech-language pathologist with expertise in the evaluation and treatment of children with hearing loss. Ms. Farhad earned her Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a specialization in pediatric hearing loss and aural rehabilitation. She additionally holds a specialty certification through the Alexander Graham Bell Academy as a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist, Certified Auditory-Verbal Therapist. Ms. Farhad has worked in several clinical and research settings in the field of pediatric hearing loss and cochlear implantation. Most recently, Ms. Farhad served as a bilingual Senior Speech-Language Pathologist with the University of Michigan Cochlear Implant Program.

Roles

Ms. Farhad serves on the Michigan Board of Speech-Language Pathology, informing licensure requirements for Michigan’s speech-language pathologists. She is additionally a member of the AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language and the American Cochlear Implant Alliance. Previously, Ms. Farhad served on the University of Michigan Sound Support grant, providing outreach and education regarding childhood hearing loss to educators, clinicians, and students throughout Michigan.
