I am a Ph.D. candidate (all-but-dissertation) at the Department of Communication, Michigan State University.
My research focuses on promoting emotional and social well-being through supportive communication (SC) strategies, which involve messages, networks, and technologies.
I am interested in SC because I believe that SC glues people and society together. Crucial SC skills can be trained, but the potential of SC in our time is yet to be fully understood. We live in an age when new social ideas, forms, and technologies emerge every day. Research is needed to understand how SC theories may adapt to the characteristics and needs of our time.
My prior work has sought to achieve this goal. Some has been reported by scientific media like PsyPost and Phys.org (see the right column). I am also a top student paper winner at our top conference (ICA) and have published in high-impact journals such as Computers in Human Behavior (IF = 9.0) as the sole or first author.
