  • American Medical Center for Cancer Research (AMC) -Within the AMC, worked for the Center for Behavioral Research designing and implementing and evaluating interventions aimed at individuals, health care professionals and organizations Livingston County Health Dept. Developed a website that contained info for the public about the Health Dept services for both personal, preventive, and environmental health
  • UNICEF- Within UNICEF worked for the Advocacy and Social Mobilization Section, offered support for the development of strategies for the safe motherhood project
  • Ingham Regional Medical Center - Evaluated the “Pulse” which is a quarterly newsletter for the professional staffs of Ingham Regional, Lapeer Regional, and the McLaren Regional Medical Center
  • Michigan Public Health Institute - Program Assistant for the Hepatitis B Project
  • National Food Safety Toxicology - Center Center communication in website and associated publications such as newsletters and articles
  • American Cancer Society - Worked on the Telefriend Mammography Screening project
  • Ingham County Community Health Department - Researcher & Publication Designer for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome materials. Research on Sudden Infant death syndrome to develop materials to distribute in regional programs to help educate community members as to the risks of SIDS as well as possible preventive measures.
  • Center for Disease Control - Worked for the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control to created the graphics archive for CDC publications
  • Michigan Education Special Services Association (MESSA) - Prepared a “Chronic Back Pain” Campaign
  • American Lung Association - Developed informational packets on asthma to be distributed to health professionals.
  • National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, Lansing Regional Office - Programs Coordinator, organized and coordinated fundraising events, developed promotional materials, worked with legislators/lobbyist to advocate for funding, educational programs for schools and professionals.
  • Sparrow Hospital Foundation- Focus Group Facilitator. Series of focus groups in the African American community to determine their opinions of physician-patient relations, as well as various barriers to, and perceptions of, healthcare.  Arranged groups, moderated, collected data, and analyzed for final report.
  • Ingham County Community Mental Health - Designer and Evaluator for Domestic Violence Study. Designing and evaluating approaches to secondary and tertiary prevention of intimate partner violence against women includes understanding its prevalence.  This systematic review of primary studies and surveillance data is intended to provide prevalence estimates of such violence in U.S. emergency medicine settings.
  • American Hospital Association - Interpreting SAS Statistical output and generating messages to send to hospitals in hopes of increasing their performance in areas such as smoker counseling.  Part of a 15 hospital Quality Investigation project comparing the different hospitals performance and an attempt to improve the standard of care for CVD.
  • Michigan Dept. of Community Health - Writer of newsletter regarding the accreditation process for local Michigan Health Departments.  Involves research, writing, editing, layout for two newsletters Lansing Health Fair creator and organizer Conceptualize, organize, and implement a health fair in downtown Lansing.  In charge of all components of the event, including planning, recruitment of organizations, public relations, marketing, fundraising, and actual implementation of the event.
  • Cristo Rey Community Center - Primary responsibility to assist the center in becoming Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities certified.  
  • National Cancer Institute, Chicago, IL - Develop and complete introduction modules for the facilitators Guide for Campaign for Quality Dementia Care.  Prepare outreach materials for Dementia Care Conference, gather information for evaluation for Dementia Care Conference.
  • Northwestern University, Dept. of Emergency Medicine - Research Assistant
  • Harvard Medical School Public Affairs Office - Intern for school newsletter
  • MSU Children’s Health Initiative - Intern for outreach and fundraising projects
  • Michigan Fitness Foundation - Intern for marketing and events
  • AARP - Intern for communication expertise
  • National Cancer Institute - Intern for health communication and science writing
  • Surgeon General Michigan, Department of Community Health - Intern planned health related events, media relations and audience research
  • Kaiser Family Foundation in Health Reporting for Young Journalists - TV/Radio Intern reported on health issues
  • Carter Center Educational Program - Intern worked on Peace Programs monitoring activities/writing reports on assigned countries, assisted with planning international conferences/meetings
  • Mayo Clinic - Health Writer. Intern learned online content and website production
  • National Cancer Institute Health Communication - Intern wrote fact sheets and press releases, answered inquiries from the press, attended and reported on scientific meetings, participated in professional meetings and training sessions.
