We are pleased to welcome Jennifer Lundine, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, BC-ANCDS from the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at The Ohio State University and the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Pediatric Brain Injury: Little people. Big problem.
Description
This course describes how acquired brain injury affects children and adolescents, considering the simultaneous processes of recovery and development. The potential for delayed developmental consequences, impacts on communication, cognition, behavior, and social-emotional outcomes, plus family, school, and community integration, focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration were discussed.
Learning Objectives
Participants who complete the course will be able to:
- Describe the delayed developmental consequences of pediatric brain injury.
- Explain the current challenges for returning kids to the classroom after brain injury.
- Identify several practical methods for assessment and intervention that can be incorporated into home and school.
- Discuss strategies to encourage professional and family collaboration to assist students with brain injury across the educational continuum.

Keynote Speaker
Jennifer Lundine, PhD, CCC-SLP, BC-ANCDS
Bio: Jennifer P. Lundine is an Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at The Ohio State University and a clinical researcher at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She has over a decade of experience working as a Speech-Language Pathologist on a pediatric rehabilitation unit. Her clinical, teaching, and research interests include cognitive-communication disorders associated with complex pediatric medical conditions, such as acquired brain injury (ABI). Specifically, her research focuses on improving gaps in access to and utilization of services designed to support children and adolescents with ABI and identifying specific approaches that would improve assessment and treatment practices following pediatric ABI. Jenny is board certified by the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences. She serves on the Board of Governors for the International Pediatric Brain Injury Society and is a Co-Chair for NASHIA’s Collaborative on Children’s Brain Injury.
