Application Deadlines
Apply Anytime - Start in Any Semester
MSU's online M.A. in Strategic Communication offers rolling admission with start dates in fall, spring, and summer. Submit your application by the following deadlines:
- Summer Start: Apply by April 1
- Fall Start: Apply by August 1
- Spring Start: Apply by November 1
Application Details
The following components are required to complete your application. Your application will be reviewed by the StratCom admissions team upon receipt of all materials listed below. You can expect to receive an admissions decision within one week of submitting a complete application.
- Complete the Graduate School Application
- Email addresses for your three recommenders
- An email will be sent to each recommender providing them with instructions for submitting their letters electronically.
- Please be sure to upload accurate information
- Be Advised: MSU only accepts letters submitted via the online system.
- Academic Statement: A one-page/500-word narrative of your academic journey. You will be prompted to do this after you have paid the application fee.
- Personal Statement: A one-page/500-word narrative of your personal journey (i.e., family, growing up, hobbies, etc.) You will be prompted to do this after you have paid the application fee.
- Resume/CV: Upload a copy of your most recent resume/CV
- Transcripts: MSU requires official copies of transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. When requesting transcripts, please have them sent to stratcom@cas.msu.edu
Please note: We cannot accept unofficial transcripts for admission decisions. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution to Michigan State University, either electronically or by mail.
International Applicants
English Language Proficiency
Applicants may self-report most English language proficiency test scores in their application for admission. All admitted students using self-reported test scores for admission are required to submit official test scores prior to completing their enrollment at Michigan State University.

Applicants from China: During the application process, applicants submit certified copies (sealed and stamped by institutions) of all post-secondary transcripts, graduation certificates and degrees directly to the Strategic Communication program (see address above). MSU requires these documents in the original language (Chinese) as well as an official English translation.
