In January 2024, Tyler Smeltekop, assistant director of assistive technology innovation with the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities, presented on a framework for developing accessible educational experiences and demonstrated a handful of commonly recommended assistive technologies. With a wide variety of classroom contexts in play, such as lectures (online and in-person), laboratories, project-based small group work, and more, this presentation provided specific recommendations to consider incorporating into your pedagogy, as well as MSU-supported opportunities to work with instructional designers and accessibility professionals to maximize your effort and time in producing pedagogy that accommodates your students’ needs.
