Bio

Tyler earned their B.A. in Communication Studies from Augustana College, Illinois, and their M.S. in Communication from Illinois State University.

Research and Teaching

Tyler's research focuses on the impact of entertainment media and technology on human behavior, combining their interest in mediated communication and interactive media. They are particularly interested in the effects of video games and how players communicate in multiplayer video games. Their areas of study at Michigan State University include mediated communication, communication technology, and advanced quantitative methods. Their research has won awards at the National Communication Association and Central States Communication Association.
