Bio

Su Bai is a doctoral student in Information & Media at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on two main streams:

1. Children, Media, and Education. She examines how media influences children’s cognition, behavior, and well-being, including how they learn from digital and educational media. She also investigates interventions to mitigate negative effects and promote positive development.

2. Gender, Media, and Body Image. She explores how media representations shape gender cognition and body image, approaching gender research from a critical, intersectional perspective that emphasizes nuanced, context-sensitive experiences across cultures and social contexts.

Her work follows a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative methods to capture lived experiences and produce research that is both theoretically rigorous and socially impactful.

Before joining MSU, she accumulated a total of 11 years of professional experience in journalism industry and higher education in China. A dedicated educator, she has received six teaching awards and contributes to course development and instruction, bringing both expertise and passion to her teaching.
