Bio

Jeff Siarto is a designer, author, and software developer with over 20 years of experience designing and building user interfaces for the web. Prior to MSU, Jeff worked as the Director of User Experience at Element 84 where he lead design projects for NASA's Earth Observation system, along with various public and private-sector geospatial projects.

In a past life, Jeff wrote two books in the O'Reilly Head First series and co-founded Loudpixel, an early social media research firm that worked with brands like New Balance, Radio Flyer, Wrigley, and MillerCoors.

Currently, Jeff is a Professor of Practice and Interim Director of the UXMS Program in the Department of Media and Information. He also co-leads the ADPR À La Med Study Abroad Program in Rome and manages the student-run Design & User Experience (DUX) Lab. His professional and research interests include: AI user interface patterns, context-specific instructional design, web usability and accessibility, and branding and logo design.
