Rumler Leads New Community Engagement Work

Jennifer Rumler, faculty member and academic specialist in the Department of Communication, is proposing to expand her community engagement scholarship from Rome, Italy to Prague, Czech Republic. Rumler created and has led a summer study abroad course in Rome for 9 years in which MSU undergraduates engage in service learning with community service organizations including the Caritas Soup Kitchen and Homeless Shelter, the Ronda della Solidarieta and the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center, all in Rome.

Now with collaborators with the Rome-based ACCENT International Study Abroad Office and the St. John’s University study abroad office in Paris, France, Rumler has proposed a conference session to the International Forum on Study Abroad Conference to take place in Prague next fall. Rumler also works with the Lansing Refugee Development Center in Michigan.
