The MSU Museum and ComArtSci's Games for Entertainment and Learning (GEL) Lab are proud recipients of the 2025 Humanities and Arts Research Program (HARP) Large-Scale Development Grant for their project, Game Changers. The project — an immersive exhibition designed to resemble a modern arcade — will explore the societal, cultural and technological impact of video games.

Funded by the MSU Research Foundation and Office of Research and Innovation, the HARP grant will support the design and fabrication of the space, bringing Game Changers to life.

ComArtSci Professor of Media and Information and Director of the GEL Lab, Brian Winn, co-led the project with Mark Sullivan, Creative Director of the MSU Museum's CoLab Studio. Together, they aim to bridge advanced research with meaningful public engagement.

"This collaboration between MSU Museum and the GEL Lab provides an unparalleled opportunity to amplify our research while offering students and visitors a platform to explore the transformative power of gaming," said Winn.

Set to open in 2027, the exhibition will empower visitors to experience games developed by MSU students and faculty while offering space for reflection on themes of health, medicine, technology, environmental studies and innovation.
