Bio

Yuxuan Wang is a doctoral student in the Department of Media and Information. Her research interests lie at the intersection of HRI (Human-Robot Interaction), STS (Science, Technology & Society), and Critical Studies. She is committed to making a hole in the grand blueprint surrounding automation technology, robots, and AI, with a particular focus on examining the political, economic, and power structures underlying these technological narratives.

Her previous research has primarily employed qualitative methodologies, including discourse analysis, ethnographic fieldwork, and grounded theory. Her scholarly work seeks to foster deeper discussions on how automation technologies function as complex socio-technical systems through more empirical studies, ultimately encouraging critical reflection on more constructive modes of human-technology interaction.

Prior to joining Michigan State University, she earned a Master's degree in Digital Media: Critical Studies from University College London, as well as dual Bachelor's degrees in Communication and History from China Agricultural University and the University of Colorado Denver.
