Yixiao Sun (M.A. in Nanjing University) is currently a first-year Ph.D. student at the Department of Communication, whose research primarily lies in computational psycholinguistics, with a focus on how textual communication materials shape individual mental states and behaviors, or influence societal institutions. As a computational psycholinguistic researcher, she aims to push the boundaries of computational methods (e.g. natural language processing, longitudinal data analysis, causal inference) by developing new frameworks for analyzing complex elements of human communication—such as identity, context, narrative, and rhetoric—and by tracing how these elements reveal the evolving dynamics of people’s psychology and behavior.
