Karessa Weir

Karessa Weir (she/they) is an instructor of News Writing and Reporting in the School of Journalism. She is also communications manager for the Departments of Sociology, Political Science and Chicano/Latino Studies in the College of Social Science. Weir has a master's degree in environmental journalism from the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism at MSU, and bachelor of arts degree in Journalism and bachelor of science degree in Anthropology both from MSU. She has worked as a newspaper reporter in Maryland and Michigan for more than 20 years. She taught journalism at Spring Arbor University and Jackson College and has written for various publications as a freelancer. She and her husband, Brian Wheeler, live in East Lansing with their three children and countless pets.
