Justin Gaines

Justin Gaines is a Client Partner at Reddit, where he focuses on bringing new advertisers onto the platform through partnerships with major holding company agencies. In his role, Justin works closely with agencies and their clients to develop innovative advertising strategies.  

Justin earned his B.A. in Advertising Management in 2013. Following graduation, he began his career in the Metro Detroit area, gaining experience across publishers and advertising agencies. He later moved to New York City, where he expanded his work in digital advertising. Justin eventually transitioned to the publisher side of the industry, joining Reddit’s advertising sales team. Over the past several years, he has played a key role in helping brands navigate the evolving digital landscape, specializing in social media and emerging platforms. 

Throughout his career, Justin has leveraged his natural understanding of digital and social platforms to help brands stay relevant in a rapidly changing environment. A defining moment came early in his career while working on a digital media team, where he recognized his ability to intuitively understand platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram. This gave him an insight that ultimately shaped his path toward working in social media and led him to Reddit. 

Justin remains connected to Michigan State because of the positive experience he had here. He credits the Advertising Management program for giving him a strong foundation and a competitive edge in the industry. Justin is passionate about helping current students benefit from the same opportunities. 

He encourages students to not only focus on building their professional skills but also to prioritize their personal well being. “Take care of yourself and build strong routines,” Justin advises. “How you show up personally, your health, your habits, and your mindset, directly impacts how you perform professionally.”  

Outside of work, Justin enjoys breakdancing, having served as president of the MSU Breakdance Club. Justin also enjoys bodybuilding, snowboarding, and fashion.
