Dr. Allison Z. Shaw

Dr. Shaw holds her BA, MA, and PhD from the Department of Communication, and was a tenure-tracked faculty member at The University at Buffalo – SUNY before changing careers and serving as an Academic Advisor for all the ComArtSci majors until February 2022. After much soul-searching, Dr. Shaw realized that she could use her passion for interpersonal influence, her data-analytics skills, and her teaching experience to better serve both students and faculty by identifying achievement gaps and developing theoretical, data-driven student support services. In Assistant Director position, she is able to provide more direct support to our at-risk student populations through one-on-one advising, course development, and other initiatives. Additionally, having experience serving as a faculty member, she is keenly aware of the unique experience faculty have when supporting students, and she hopes to collaborate and support faculty in a shared endeavor of addressing student success concerns.
