Andrew Poole

Andrew Poole manages the day-to-day operations of the National Social Norms Center (NSNC) at Michigan State University, where he also serves as Director of Communication & Engagement. In this role, he oversees strategic communication initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and operational coordination in support of the Center’s research, training, and outreach mission. His work focuses on translating social norms research into effective, evidence-based communication strategies for higher education and community partners.

Prior to his current position, Andrew served for more than 15 years as an Educational Program Coordinator in the Health Promotion Department within MSU’s University Health & Wellbeing division. During that time, he played a central role in the planning, design, implementation, and marketing of the MSU Social Norms Campaign, working closely with Health Promotion staff and a wide range of campus partners. He continues to oversee the campaign as it has transitioned to the Department of Communication. Andrew was also instrumental in the development and launch of a first-of-its-kind MSU Sportsmanship Campaign, created in partnership with MSU Athletics to promote positive fan behavior and community values.

In addition to his programmatic work, Andrew has contributed extensively to campus and community collaboration efforts. He previously served as MSU’s liaison to the East Lansing Responsible Hospitality Council and chaired the messaging subcommittee of the MSU Celebrations Committee. Andrew was actively involved in the initial effort to bring the National Social Norms Center to Michigan State University as part of the Health Promotion Department and previously served as the Center’s Director of Communication and Design. His career reflects a sustained commitment to advancing public health, student well-being, and institutional change through strategic communication and social norms approaches.
