Who We Are
Imagine you're a nonprofit struggling with very little money, a disorganized website, no branding, no real social media presence and no video describing your mission or services. Send in Sandbox Street Teams to the rescue!
These groups of talented, interdisciplinary ComArtSci students venture forth into the world and help nonprofits like this, as well as other organizations, with their media storytelling needs. Street teams carefully research a client's needs and work together to create portfolio-worthy media products and, quite often, the work they do impacts many lives for the better.
"When I got the email I literally did a dance outside my office...it was just a blessing because we need all this work done!" - Rhona Bayless, Center of Wellness for Urban Women
One Street Team has mentored homeless youth in Lansing, collaborated with a local volunteer group and donated over 93 pounds of food to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, passed out over 500 cases of water in the midst of the Flint Water Crisis and rebranded Pictures of Hope, a project that inspires homeless youth to express their hopes and dreams through the art of photography.
Another Street Team raised their own funds and drove thousands of miles to help out nonprofits in cities like Indianapolis, Nashville and Little Rock by redesigning and building their communication platforms, including websites, logos, videos and the like.
