Soo Young Shin is a doctoral student in the School of Journalism at Michigan State University. She is mainly interested in the impact of digital technologies on news media organizational leadership, and on journalistic norms and practices. Her current research interest includes the public’s perceptions of news media and other variables such as news audience satisfaction, loyalty, and the public’s attitudes toward news media. As such, she hopes to address the question currently facing news media organizations: “How do news media organizations strategize to engage and attract audiences in today’s digital environment?” Prior to her academic pursuits, Soo was among the first generation of news reporters in Seoul, South Korea who faced the challenge of adapting new digital technologies (i.e., the internet) to her profession. She was a journalist and staff editor for sixteen years at Money Today, which published both an online and traditional newspaper. She also worked at Money Today’s subsidiary, newswire News1.
