Fri, Sep 24, 2021   3:30 PM ‐ Sun, Sep 26, 2021   2:00 PM

An hour-long film directed by J-School faculty and ComArtSci alumni, this documentary explores the legacy of 1980s and ’90s hip-hop in Flint, with emphases on Eric T. “MC” Breed, a forefather of “Midwest rap,” and Ira Dorsey of the Dayton Family.

On Friday, September 24 at 3:30 p.m. the National Association of Black Journalists - MSU's chapter will host a screening in the ComArtSci Newsroom, Room 148. A panel made up of a couple of the main sources in the film — NaTasha Gist-Breed (partner of the late MC Breed), Curtis Daniel III (owner of Patchwerk Studios in Atlanta and  former MSU football player) — will address questions after the film.

In its local theatrical premiere, the film will also be screened at the Flint Institute of Arts from Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26. Tickets are available to purchase here
