Answers About the Dual BA-MA Program

The Spartan Newsroom is the center of activity for the School of Journalism.
  • If you're an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in any major at Michigan State University you may count nine credits of your 400-level undergraduate courses toward the 31 credits for a  Master's Degree in Journalism as part of the Bachelor's-Master's (B.A.-M.A.) dual program.
  • This dual plan is designed to provide you with specialized knowledge in journalism, building on acquired fundamentals, while progressing through the program efficiently and effectively.
  • The dual program allows students to complete the required graduate coursework in just 12 months, and results in significant cost savings in both direct (e.g., tuition fees) and indirect (e.g., housing) expenses during their studies.
  • You should apply and be accepted to the program before you graduate from your undergraduate major.
