Despite the snowstorm, ComArtSci students and employers braved the cold on February 9 to come out to the College’s annual career fair, ComArtSci Connect. From local businesses like Gravity Works to large ones like Conan, students got the chance to network with a number of employers.
Lining the crowded hallways of ComArtSci, employers collected resumes and met with students who were looking for summer internships and part-time and full-time jobs.
“I came to the career fair to get a step up for a summer internship,” said Anna Kennedy, junior in Creative Advertising. “I was excited to talk to Harvest Creative Services to put a face to the company.”
Lines for Conan’s table were out the door, with many students staying as late as 5:30 p.m. for the chance to make a lasting impression. Other tables, such as Publicis Media, also had lines rounding the corner, giving students plenty of time to practice their elevator speeches.
Even the most well-prepared students can feel nervous trying to impress employers and stand out from the crowd.
“The first table you go up to is the worst, but you have to break the ice,” said Clark Kingston, Media and Information junior. “However, it gets easier as you keep going around.”
With hundreds of students attending, the event successfully opened up future career opportunities for students.
Employers who didn’t make it out to the ComArtSci Connect fair will be at ComArtSci Reconnect on Friday, February 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Some of the companies that are looking forward to meeting with students include Donor, GTB and Franco.
